Jesse began to seizure when he turned 5 years old. He had 3 seizures in one year. He began on phenobarbitol medicine to control the seizures. His seizures increased to monthly and now weekly. He has grand mal cluster seizures that are uncontrolled by medication. Jesse is participating in the poodle epilepsy project piloted by Dr. Barbara Licht. This study is trying to determine if idiopathic epilepsy is an inherited trait and can be traced to certain lines within the poodle world. We are also experimenting with a theory that eliminating gluten from his diet could stop the seizures. Please see links below for further information on both of these studies. |
